Most anticipated game

[Blaugust Day 19]

Yesterday was a busy day and I wasn’t able to fit a post in without shortening the amount of sleep I would have gotten. So I’ll have to make a double-post day sometime soon. Today I’m going to use one of the writing prompts kindly provided by Void.

What is your most anticipated game that will release in the next year, and why?

I’m not usually one for anticipating new releases because I’m out of the loop most of the time, but there is one that I’m definitely looking forward to: No Man’s Sky.

I actually have no idea if the game will be out within the next year as Hello Games hasn’t set a release date yet. Although there seems to be rumours that it will be out sometime in the second part of the year.

Anyways, here’s why I’m pumped for its release:

  • Exploration – The amount of exploring that is possible is a ridiculously high. “Over 18 quintillion planets each with their own set of flora and fauna” kind of high. I could spend years just playing this game and still not have discovered everything. I’ll likely enjoy up losing sleep from the amount of times I’ll say “Ooooh, what’s over that hill? I’ll check it and then go to bed. Oooh, more shinies!” I also love the idea of space exploration and being able to actually walk around on these planets.
  • Survival – It doesn’t seem to be survival in so much as “you start off with nothing and you’ll probably starve to death soon” but there are animals, robots, and NPCs that could attack you. You can also participate in dogfights in space but it doesn’t seem like the combat is the meat of the game, more like something that happens sometimes while exploring. Although now part of me wants to be stranded on a planet and left to survive by my wits. I should play more Planet Explorers.
  • Graphics – I know graphics are not the be-all-end-all and they do not guarantee a great game…but OMG everything looks so pretty! And it sounds like there will be absolutely no loading screens for moving between planets.

If there’s one thing I’m a little unsure about is the multiplayer aspect. I’m not sure how I’d feel about strangers being close by and affecting my immersion, but it seems that the likeliness of that happening is very minimal. It would be nice to play alongside Lord Crumb but he’d probably steal something he shouldn’t and the next thing we’d know, we’d have robots swarming around us. So soloing it is!

  1. Your autocorrect seems to have replaced “liberate an oppressed item from the chains of capitalism” with “steal something”. You might want to get that looked at.
