As detailed in The Plan, the first objective was to purchase reseller hosting. I did that…and discovered that I didn’t like the chosen host. They had a few too many restrictions for me to deal with, and they were a little bit on the abrupt side when it came to customer relations. So I went searching again, discovered another host that I had disregarded before because they had a similar name to an infamously bad host. I dug a bit to make sure they indeed had no connections to the bad host, read some reviews, and decided to give them a shot by purchasing a month.

I have been very impressed so far. There was an issue with my account creation but I was able to log onto their live support chat (which the first host didn’t have) and only had to wait a few minutes for someone to talk to me. The guy apologized for the mistake and fixed it promptly and courteously. I mean, I understand that mistakes happen, there’s no avoiding it. It’s how they are dealt with that shows the true nature of the customer support. And they handled it excellently. Of course, I’d like to have more experience with them (aka 3 months or so) before I make a final judgment on them. But so far I’m liking it. I haven’t decided if the Lair will move to this new host as well, I’m still pretty loyal to Fan St. It’s only their lack of reseller program that has sent me looking for other hosts.

What I’m excited about is that I’m already hosting a few people. Just friends mind you but you have to start somewhere, right? I figure that starting with these folks will give me the opportunity to get my feet wet while still having the chance to be forgiven if I screw something up. >.>

So having said that, if there’s anyone reading this blog who’s looking to get a website hosted/built, let me know through comments or email and I’ll see what I can do for you. Chances are you will get the low low price of free.

As I was reading through hers, I started thinking of what I would put for them so I decided to just post them here.

If I was a month, I’d be December, the month I was born in. Once you get past the cold, it’s beautiful and clean and gives you a reason to quietly curl up with a good book.

If I was a day of the week, I’d be Sunday. The lazy day to do whatever you feel like.

If I was a time of day, I’d be 9pm…when you’re either revving up for a party, enjoying a quiet evening, or peacefully asleep.

If I was a planet, I’d be Earth. I have too many facets and hidden treasures to be anything else.

If I was a sea animal, I’d be a nautilus. Because it looks neat and has a cool name.

If I was a direction, I’d be North. I’ve just always felt drawn in that direction.

If I was a piece of furniture, I’d be a large overstuffed couch that’s so comfy you can sleep on it.

If I was a liquid, I’d be mercury. Because liquid metal is awesome.

If I was a gemstone, I’d be a quartz, because diamonds are overrated.

If I was a tree, I’d be a true Redwood. Towering over everything. One of the last living dinosaurs.

If I was a tool, I’d be a swiss army knife. Because I like being useful for many different things.

If I was a flower, I’d be a wood lily. That brilliant red flower hidden in the forest and prairies, smelling wonderfully of Froot Loops.

If I was a kind of weather, I’d be a thunderstorm at night, hands down. With lots and lots of lightning.

If I was a musical instrument, I’d be the uilleann pipes.

If I was a color, I’d be black like my dear Blacky. Showing the world that black doesn’t have to mean death and sadness, but life and joy.

If I was an emotion, I’d be wistfulness. I am ever the dreamer.

If I was a fruit, I’d be a strawberry.

If I was a sound, I’d be the rain falling softly to the ground as thunder rumbled in the background.

If I was an element, I’d be earth. Stoic and stubborn.

If I was a car, I’d be a Mercedes CKL-GTR. Because I loved that car in Need for Speed.

If I was a food, I’d be a platter of fruit. Sometimes sweet and sometimes sour.

If I was a place, I’d be a giant monolith like Uluru.

If I was a material, I’d be smooth, tightly woven cotton.

If I was a taste, I’d be like Sour Patch Kids.

If I was a scent, I’d be vanilla and oranges. Calming and comforting mixed with tangy and crisp.

I want to try my hand at some small time web hosting, some paid and some free. Why? Mostly because I think it’ll be fun. Yes, I am that much of a geek.

The Plan is to buy a reseller package from a good but relatively cheap host. I emailed a couple of people running similar websites (some free, some paid) and they gave me a few recommendations and some tips, which was very kind of them. This lead me to a host that seems like a pretty good fit for what I want.

I’m undecided as to whether I should move all of my websites there or not. Really what I should do is just move Enspirit (which will become my hosting company name) and see how it works out. I’m a little reluctant to leave Fan St. which has been so very good to me since I bought hosting from them in 2006. However, they seem to be a little non-responsive at times, which isn’t the best thing.

Anyways, I think I’ll just move Enspirit over there and see how it works. And Enspirit still needs a redesign. >.<

Cross your fingers and wish me good luck, folks.

I hate purses. I really do. They either are too big or too small and they are NEVER in my sort of style (which has been labelled the “gamer girl” style by a friend of mine). Carrying around a backpack has gotten old, especially when all I need to be carrying is my wallet and car keys. I usually just shove them into my pockets but that doesn’t work so well all the time, especially when a lot of the dress pants I wear to work don’t have any pockets. /grumble

I needed something that I could use just about anywhere, whether going to work in my business casual clothes or heading out to game with some friends in my jeans and t-shirt.

First thing I looked for what different kind of bags. I found that I liked the style and size of messenger bags. Then when I was searching for a pattern that I liked, I came across Etsy. I had stumbled across the website before but hadn’t explored it fully. For some reason I thought that it only sold…well, items that you’re likely to find at a small town craft sale (which are nice but not what I’m looking for). I found Broake and Thumb Studio on Etsy which offered a really lovely blue denim messenger bag with an asian dragon print on it. I just about bought it that instant…until I noticed the “Request Custom Item” link.

Of course, an item customed to my tastes is very appealing to me. After much back and forth with the seller, my bag was made.
